Falcon soars to Team of Week title in new FTBJ-ICBL event

Falcon soared to the Team of the Week title during the second session after a so-so start to the FTBJ-ICBL 32nd Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.
Playing well from start to finish, Falcon pooled the top total of 36 points in a much improved performance from the first week where it finished next to last on 11 points.
Crystal Global, which won the championship crown in the last conference under the name Nasser Al Hajri, followed its Team of the Week award-winning display on opening week with a solid 30.5 points good for second place on the day.
Sky Freight-TFC carded 27.5 points in third place followed by Lance & 3rdy 26, with D’ Barkads and Sarawat Superstores tied on 20 points.
Hidada Ltd. came through with 18 points, while Jeddah Lanes, Jem Strikers and JM Geely Cards were the last three to check in on 17, 13 and 12 points in that order.
The individual race for the men’s and ladies Bowler of the Week went to Ric Reformado of Lance & 3rdy and Babes Tiongson of Sky Freight.
Reformado shot the high series of 681 on lines of 249, 215 and 217 while Tiongson’s score of 624 (159, 192, 135) was tops in her division.
Rico Nery was a few pins short of 600 on 596 at the vanguard of a Falcon surge where the distaff pair of Maria Sato and Luz Pagaran fired 578 and 521.
Nonie Yap added valuable games of 213-234 for Falcon which owned the top overall output of 2,966 while going 2-2-3 in the three games contested. Danny Bautista also looked good with rounds of 197-257, while Ed Labuac added 166-154.
Crystal Global drew its total from the single set of five players led by Randy Mata who drilled the second-best score of 678. Zaldy Bacero and Bonie Garcia had matching cards of 622s, while the team’s lady bowlers Gail Mata and Merlen Pamintuan shot 541 and 456.
In addition to Tiongson the others that delivered at Sky Freight were veteran Rene Santiago 651, team manager Emy de Guzman 546, Atoi Cruz 546 and Yolly Santos 538. Oca Bernabe contributed 177-173 and James Galvan 169.
Ding Dela Rosa scored 565 while Evelyn Santoc and Shirley Sagmit posted 545 and 535 to support Reformado at Lance. Marcelo Manalo made 190-155 and Esteve Historillo registered 182.
Over at D’ Bakads Leo Edejer was the leading scorer on 592 with Cheryl Tibay and Thess Grandia on 534 an 513. With two games each were Gerry Tano 194-173, Rey Beltran 222-203 and Dan Ednave 148-156.
