The Metropolitan Police of the holy capital formed a team to investigate an unidentified decapitated body discovered in Mahpas Al-Gin and an unknown head found in Shoaab Ali.
The corpse and the head were found after the rainfall in the Holy City Saturday afternoon.
Makkah Metropolitan police Lt. Abdel Mohsen Al-Maiman said that police investigators, the coroner the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution suggest that head likely belongs to the body.
The body and the head were each transferred to the morgue at King Faisal Hospital in Al-Shesha for an analysis.
Al-Maiman, the initial medical examination shows that the body has been decomposing for nearly two weeks, and may be attributable to a group of anonymous people who usually bury their dead on the slopes of the mountains.
He added that the rainfall Friday afternoon may have pulled the body to one side and head to the other side.
“Investigations are still ongoing, but it is expected that there is no criminal activity surrounding the case, as no traces of murder have been found,” Al-Maiman said.

“Details will be revealed soon after issuance of the forensic medical report on the corpse.”
