The arrest of Tunda

It is really sad that the Indian media worked overtime in the wake of the much-hyped arrest of Abdul Karim Tunda. The media went full throttle in a bid to prove all allegations against Tunda much before his trial in any court of law. Tunda has been reported to have contacts with almost all brands of militant outfits and underworld dons and allegedly was in touch with the ISI. How could we trust this media? Observers may recall the Ishrat Jahan incident. The young girl who was declared a terrorist and killed in a fake encounter with the Gujarat police. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
How come such a high-profile “terrorist” was facing financial issues and at one point in time had to spend his days and nights with his three wives and six children on a footpath. I believe the Indian media is very biased toward Muslims. Any incident involving a Muslim makes headlines and the media create such an uproar that most of the time facts surrounding the incident take a backseat. Why is the Indian media silent over the activities of the Bajrang Dal and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh etc? The Hindu right-wing was responsible for the death of the Anti-Terrorism Squad chief, Hemant Karkare, during the Mumbai attacks in 2008, as he was an honest officer and was about to reveal the fascist agenda of the saffron faction. But the Indian media remain mysterious silent over such issues. — Anees Lokhande, Alkhobar
