Why not Modi?

Why not Modi?

I recently came across the article written sometime back “India deserves better than Narendra Modi” by Aijaz Zaka Syed. Let me set the record straight by saying I absolutely abhor and condemn the horrible events that took place back in 2002 in Gujarat. I was there and the horror stories we heard were inconceivable and I am not writing to defend Narendra Modi. Unfortunately, the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government’s tenure is tainted with scams of almost all types. Some have been suppressed and some have been ridiculously justified.
Luckily for them public memory is very short or else these people would be chased out of the country.
Modi’s genocide is a blot on his political career but Gujarat happens to be one of the most developed states in the country. I also know the Gujarat model will most probably not make a difference in a heavily populated country like India but if we have a leader who does not embezzle tax payers’ money, that’s a bright prospect.
Bengalis believed in Mamata Banerjee because she promised “Paribartan” (change) in Bengal. But the power went to her head.
At this point, we (Indians) would vote for anybody who can manage our taxes efficiently. — Aheli Raychaudhuri, India
