Visitors from Saudi Arabia are playing a significant role in the success of the world’s tallest hotel, the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, new figures have revealed.
In the initial eight months since the opening, the iconic new hotel has recorded remarkable numbers in both individual and group bookings, firmly establishing itself as a preferred hotel for international leisure and business travelers.
Occupancy rates have been strong; remaining closely aligned with Dubai’s reported average occupancy rates since the beginning of 2013.
Visitors from the GCC have played a key part in the success of the hotel.
New figures for the first six months of 2013 reveal that the Saudi Arabia is the property’s second biggest source market for leisure after the US, accounting for over 14 percent of visitors.
The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is expecting a further rise in Saudi visitors during the remainder of this year, highlighting the country’s increasing importance in its overall growth.
It will respond directly to this demand and that of the region’s ongoing travel and tourism industry growth with the earlier than expected introduction of a second tower.
This will bring the total room count in the hotel to 1,608 and adding two further food and beverage outlets increasing the portfolio to 16 food and beverage options.
Figures from Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing reveal that visitor traffic to Dubai from Saudi Arabia grew by 30 percent in 2012 compared to 2011.
Rupprecht Queitsch, general manager of the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, said: “We believe the reason the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai appeals to so many Saudi nationals is because of the way in which the property embraces the Arabic nature, both in design, culture and our services.”
He said: “An example of this authenticity can be found in the Saray Spa, which is home to 15 treatments rooms, each offering traditional Middle Eastern spa treatments as well as its newly opened Spectacular Arabic restaurant and lounges, Nawwara.”
