The Ministry of Health has fined a doctor and two nurses and warned another doctor for violating the Kingdom’s health regulations.
On a directive from Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, a doctor working for a hospital in Madinah was fined SR20,000 for violating health regulations under section nine of Article 28 of the code of ethics for medics and paramedics. The doctor was fined for failing to follow up on patients discharged from hospitals.
The ministry also issued a warning to a doctor who had failed to assign management personnel to run the hospital and also for alleged recklessness with other government officers, such as auditors.
In Taif, two nurses were fined SR3,000 and SR2,000 respectively for not being cordial with patients and relatives who visited the hospital.
“The minister took this action based on reports submitted by the field inspection team of the respective Directorates General of Health Affairs in Taif and Madinah,” an official from the Ministry of Health told Arab News on Monday.
He added that the inspection team pays regular visits to private facilities in the region to check on services and facilities such as ambulances, operation theaters and the professional suitability of medics and paramedics employed in these health institutions to ensure that quality health service is provided to patients.
He also said punitive action clearly indicates the ministry’s concern for the safety and welfare of the patients, who include citizens and residents of the country.
