The Ministries of Interior and Islamic Affairs and Guidance will organize inspection rounds for all offices and branches of charity and advocacy organizations.
The inspections aim to ensure the organizations have obtained the required licenses from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and the Ministry of Social Affairs prior to leasing any office or building to conduct activities.
The move came after the Ministry of Interior began monitoring kiosks at markets and commercial centers and found that such kiosks were collecting donations illegally.
Charities and advocacy organizations are not permitted to establish kiosks or mobile offices for donation collection at public centers without obtaining the necessary licenses and approvals, said a source from the ministry.
The ministry previously warned against the placement of donation collection boxes — both financial and non-financial donations — in front of mosques and commercial centers in order to prevent their abuse for illegal purposes.
