Teacher’s Day was celebrated at Novel International School in Jeddah on Thursday.
Dr. Padma Hariharan, director & head of the Novel International Group of Institutions, said that Teacher’s Day is a fairly popular event in many countries across the world and is even acknowledged by UNESCO.
She further said that the event is celebrated on Sept. 5 in India and on different dates around the globe.
“Sept. 5 marks the birthday of a great teacher, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, who was a staunch believer in education, in addition to being a diplomat, scholar, the president of India and above all, a teacher,” she explained.
He explained that Socrates was an example of a good teacher in that he considered himself a learner and a teacher at once. For Socrates, love and friendship were the only contexts for the pursuit of wisdom and goodness. Socrates saw himself only as a catalyst.
“I am glad Novel International School celebrated this event in congregation with other countries in order for students to remember the value added to their lives through teaching,” she said.
Mohammed Shafeeque, principal of Novel International School, thanked teachers for their support and devotion.
Students paraded in colorful costumes and parodied class teachers.
Sumayya Rahman, chairman of the school, thanked teachers for their commitment.
