Shops go green ahead of Saudi National Day

Retails shops across Saudi Arabia are stocking up on everything green ahead of the Kingdom’s 83rd National Day, which is less than two weeks away.
Green stationery supplies, clothes and flags are being purchased by enthusiastic citizens in preparation for the celebrations.
The shops target Saudi youngsters who form a major segment of their clientele.
“We know that children will want to take green-colored stationery, clothes, balloons and toys to schools, while teenagers usually choose flags and spray-paint to decorate their cars ahead of the occasion,” says Mohammed Bawazir, a manager at a retail store in Jeddah.
“Last year’s sales convinced us to invest in these kind of products this year too. Sales of green products have already hit an impressive peak.”
“I love to spray-paint my car green on National Day to feel part of the celebration,” says Bandar Al-Yamani, a Saudi youth.
Shops selling car accessories also achieve high sales during this time of the month.
Saudi parents were seen purchasing National Day-inspired school supplies for their children. “I like my children to take part in the National Day celebrations too,” says Harbi Attas, a Saudi father.
Attas says that he believes that educating children about their leaders and country is just as important as what they learn in regular classroom lessons.
