The Ministry of Health has launched an intensive campaign against violators in private hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and optical shops in Jazan Province.
Authorities have fined violators to the tune of SR755,000 during the latest round of inspections, said Mohammed Al-Rajhi, director of private health affairs in the province.
Media reports have said that authorities have carried out 200 inspections throughout the current year on different private health facilities, shutting down many and ordering a seizure of large quantities of medical equipment from facilities for testing.
Last year, private health facilities in the region were fined over SR1,150,000.
The Ministry of Health has shut down 34 private health facilities and 11 pharmacies across the Kingdom over the past two months.
The ministry has also filed cases against 172 health facilities and 156 pharmacies for violating regulations, according to the reports.
They also said that 130 employees are currently working in the private health sector in violation of ministry regulations.
