Parents of Pakistan school students urged to be active

Pakistan Consul General Aftab Khokher has urged parents of students studying in Pakistan community schools in the Western region to actively participate in raising academic standards and enriching the consulate with their suggestions.
He said parents are the real stakeholders and that the embassy and consulate are responsible for redressing their problems in community schools during an annual prize distribution ceremony of the Pakistan International School in Taif (PIS-T) on Sunday.
“They can be assured of tremendous cooperation from Saudi education authorities,” he said.
He said that the formation of the school management committees (SMCs) was an important step under Saudi law to ensure continuous improvements to achieve academic excellence. He congratulated the SMC of the school for successfully completing its term of office.
Khokher said the present government had assured non-interference in the operation of schools to encourage and promote merit in Pakistan community schools in the Kingdom.

He stressed that those who were using these institutions for political gains must now concentrate on academic achievements and excellence.
He thanked the community for reposing confidence in the consulate and working in cooperation with Saudi education authorities to uphold and ensure Saudi standards of education excellence in community schools.
Qaiser Khan, principal of the PIS in Taif, thanked the consul general for gracing the function as chief guest and appreciated the patronage provided by the Embassy and Consulate General of Pakistan. He also highlighted various curricular and extra-curricular achievements of the school and the role and contribution of the outgoing SMC.
The consul general presented prizes to outstanding students at the school. Students also presented a tableau and sang national songs.
