Four judges have been relieved of their duties for various reasons, and the Ministry of Justice is undertaking appropriate legal procedures to try them, according to media reports.
Of the four judges, two of them were dismissed because they violated special instructions related to their jobs even though they were warned of previous transgressions. The third, president of a court of appeal, was relieved because he had been unjustifiably absent from his duties for one year.
The fourth judge was convicted of financial corruption and is currently detained in a Riyadh prison. He was working in Taif court prior to his transfer to Riyadh. The judge was arrested on Aug. 31,
The Supreme Judiciary Council (SJC) has lifted his immunity to begin investigation. The SLC is expected to try him within the next few weeks. This time has been given to the judge to defend before a sentence is finally issued.
Sources said if the third judge was convicted, regulatory procedures would be taken against him and he would be relieved of his duties.
Two of the four judges were informed through confidential letters, while regulatory procedures are still underway to relieve the two other judges.
One of the relieved judges was working as an adviser to the SJC, while the other was an adviser in the Supreme Court.
One of the judges confirmed the news and said in a tweet: “I was told about the dismissal decision.” Another judge, who was known for issuing alternative punishment, is still awaiting the completion of his dismissal procedure.
The judges were told to avoid speaking to the media because this is contrary to the nature of their work. The banning order also came to maintain the reputation of the judiciary system.
