A group of Filipino photographers in Riyadh symbolized their unity this weekend by donating cash to fellow Filipinos affected by typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda).
The photographers came together under the umbrella of “Photography Club International” (PCI), led by Gerico Canlapan, the group CEO, and Alexander Ganzon Lau and Win Serrano.
The event, dubbed as “Clicks of Hope,” was attended by 200 Filipino photographers and raised SR12,381 in cash and five boxes of relief goods, said Nadzker Lakibul Sahidulla, president of the Ultra Media International Foundation (UMIF).
All donations will be sent to a non-governmental organization in the Philippines, which is engaged in relief operations for typhoon victims.
“Nov. 22, 2013 marks a day of unity for Filipino photographers in Riyadh. We are united, not just by our passion for photography, but also by our love for our country and fellow countrymen who suffered the devastation of the Yolanda typhoon,” said the group’s spokesman.
The sole purpose of this project is to raise funds to help alleviate the conditions of typhoon victims in the Philippines.
“Once again, Filipinos have proven that no typhoon can break their spirit. Instead, times like these bring them closer and make them more passionate about their talent,” said Gerico Canlapan.
He said the group was established in collaboration with the Shutters Guild Fashion for Photography, headed by Jorge Nathaniel Amores, Catalino Baylon Jr., Eldrid Refil, Sandy Nantes, Abdurahman Caballero, the Riyadh Creative Artists (RCA), headed by Norman Cunanan, Marlon Baris Vicente, Alfredo Bascone Jr., Rico Sumadia and Red F Stop Production, headed by Ronnie De Vera, Arnold Jesena, and Dhon Bartolome.
