Saudi Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) officially announced that MasterChef Arabia premiered on Monday exclusively on Saudi TV 1, in collaboration with Creative Edge, a major media company in the Kingdom.
MasterChef is recognized as one of the most successful primetime entertainment formats in the world. In a series of spectacular outdoor locations and in the world’s largest MasterChef kitchen, contestants will face individual and team-based cooking challenges, with one or more home cooks being eliminated each week, until finally Saudi Arabia’s first MasterChef is crowned.
Abdulrahman Al-Hazza, president of SBC, stated: “I am extremely proud that Saudi TV 1 will be the first channel to broadcast the first MasterChef production that has been produced entirely in the Middle East. MasterChef Arabia is one of the biggest television productions to come to the Middle East, and it is consistent with SBC’s remit to inform and entertain Saudi audiences with programming that supports and enhances the values of our society.”
Al-Hazza added: “We are confident that MasterChef Arabia will capture the imagination of Saudi audiences and enjoy the same high level of success here that it has had around the world.”
In the first two episodes, 100 aspiring chefs and foodies will be sliced down to 50 who then progress to the Bootcamp stage where over the next two episodes, contestants will compete against each other to make it into the Top 20.
Across the series, viewers will be able to follow the Top 20 lucky hopefuls as they face more ambitious tests than ever before, designed to further develop their culinary skills and test them to the limit. This is when the competition moves into the world’s largest ever MasterChef Kitchen — constructed inside a 5,000 square meter studio.
