Jamjoom Pharma, Toyota Yaris stay perfect in OFBL event

Jamjoom Pharma beat Zamil Offshore 92-77 to stay unbeaten in the Non-Rated Division Bracket C Friday Morning Games of the OFBL (Overseas Filipino Basketball League) 5th Conference at Timeout Sports Academy gymnasium on Television Street, Ghulail District on the outskirts of Jeddah.
In a lopsided result Zamil had no answer to Jamjoom’s superb offense. Jamjoom was never in trouble from the get-go.
Jamjoom’s Abulencia and Gemino plus their new teammates Abelia and Tomzon blended well as they carried their team with a combined total of 46 points. Abulencia topscored with an impressive 17 points while Gemino added 12 points for the winning team. Alvez scored 26 points to lead Zamil.
In the same bracket ,Toyota Yaris beat Saudi Oger 82-71 to also remain unbeaten. Yaris had an easy time against Oger with Llamado leading the attack with 18 points. Josue added 16 points for Yaris which also collected 10 points from Delcosta and 7 from big man Borcegue. Peres and Lebrel combined for 42 points for Oger but this was not enough to reverse the outcome of the game.
In the third game Al Wahjan tasted its first win of the tournament, dominating Puzakal for a 73-54 victory in Bracket C.
It was a total team effort for Wahjan with 5 of its players scoring in double figures led by Bedizon and Cabasana each with 25 points. Burgos added 23 points while Manalo and Somodio each made 12 points. Silverio finished with 17 points in charge of Puzakal who also got 8 points from Serna.
Meanwhile, in the Bracket B Division, Gentleman edged Yummy Yummy 76-74. The first half was just about even but Gentleman took control in the fourth period. Durado was the main man for Gentleman on 16 points. He was helped out by Ballinan 7 points and Encabo and Gadiana each with 16 points. The losing team was headed by Faurillo 18 points, Romero 17 points and Cervantes 16 points.
Meanwhile, the much awaited OFBL 5th Conference Evening Division opens Friday with 32 teams seeing action.
This will have 5 categories namely Inter-Company Bonafide A & B, Inter-Company Non-rated, Inter-Company Open Non-rated and the Inter-company Bonafide Strong Division. OFBL Chairman Boy Teves and Commissioner Rocky Gil are inviting basketball fans to come enjoy and watch the games. Many surprises await the spectators on opening day, Teves and Gil said.
