JEDDAH: Crown Steel recorded a mammoth 313 against AOT to score a convincing 97-run win in the MoneyGram Premier Division Twenty20 cricket league, held under the auspices of Saudi Cricket Center and organized by the Western Province Cricket Association, here.
The highlights of the Steelmen’s victory was a 147-run partnership between Shafeeq (91) and Khurram (46). Abu Huraira later propped the inning with an unbeaten 58 runs.
AOT in reply managed 216 runs. Aqueel led the fightback with 73 runs followed by Tahir, which was not good enough, as none of the other batsmen stuck long at the crease. Zaheer 3 for 39, Aijaz 3 for 44 and Abu Huraira 2 were the wicket takers.
The other highlights of the day, Adeel and Farid Afridi slammed tons while Hala International School, Zultrack, Nestle Milo emerged victorious in the Afternoon Super Sixes matches.
In the other Premier Division match, Dopco put up 223 for 5 against Islamic Development Bank. Thanks to Shahbaz (72) and Khurram (56). Abdullah Shah and Yassir claimed 2 wickets each. In reply IDB fell short by 30 runs as they were restricted to 193 for 5. Farook (83) and Zeeshan (72) put up a fight. Asim and Shoaib shared 4 wickets.
Elsewhere, My Care Hala racked up 230 for 9 against Al Saudi XI. Thanks to Qamar Abbas’ 74 off 37 balls and Babar’s 44. Abdul Qadir had 4 for 40, Sajid 3 for 55 and Adil 2 wickets. Al Saudi XI managed 163 for 8. Mazher Abbasi top scored with 61 runs. Faheem and Hussain Bhatti bagged 2 wickets each. MCH won by 67 runs.
Elsewhere, Al Ghamdi Cricket Stars defeated Pepsi Deccan Knights by 12 runs. Al Ghamdi was bowled out for 150. Mustafa scored 52. Ather took 3 for 13. Naveed and Sameer got 2 wickets each. Pepsi Deccan Knights totaled 138 runs. Athar stroked 68 runs. Nadeem Shah got 3 for 24 and Mustafa 2.
In the Afternoon Super Sixes matches, Zultrack thrashed Dopco Young Stars by 7 wickets. Dopco crashed for 122 for 9. Kashif made 54. Tauseef 4 for 15, Usman 3 for 16 were the main wicket takers. Zultrack achieved 123 for 3 off 70 balls. Abbas remained unbeaten on 55 and Yaseen 35.
Hala International School won against Hyundai Naghi by nine runs. Hala School piled up 166 for 9 through Mohsin (58) and Anas (42). Ayaz Jr. had 3 for 30. Faheem and Mohammed got 2 each. Hyundai in response posted 157 for 9. Yousuf was the highest scorer with 36 runs. Mohsin claimed 4 for 20.
In the Morning League, Nesma upset Hala White by seven wickets, Crown Blue won against Johnson Control by 87 runs, DTT thrashed ADI by 50 runs, Stallions routed Hanifa Tigers by nine wickets, QRCC surprised ALJ Toyota by seven wickets, Mercedes Benz lost to Al Mazori by seven wickets and Brasa De Brazil downed Jeddah Royals by 59 runs.
