Don’t throw away old text books — donate it to needy students

British novelist and writer Roald Dahl had famously declared “So, please, oh please, we beg, we pray, go throw your TV set away, and in its place you can install a lovely bookcase on the wall.”
Arif Qureshi from the Indian Cultural Society may not exactly be asking people to dump their television sets, but he has been pleading hard with Indian students and parents in the Kingdom not to throw away used text books, for they can be donated to needy students as the new academic year is set to begin.
Qureshi urged students and parents on Monday to donate the text books to the society so that they can be distributed among the needy students.
He said that the ICSJ has been collecting used books for the past 20 years which had benefitted underprivileged students at the Indian International School of Jeddah (IISJ).
He requested parents to deposit the books at select locations and distribute them by the end of this month at the Shadab restaurant in Aziziah.
Parents and students can donate their books at MTC Packers and Movers in Azizia, Shadab Restaurant, Hyderabad Sweets, Mubarak Stores, Sameera Polyclinic, Naseem Polyclinic, Aziziah Stores, Al-Shadi Stores, Star Center in Azizia and Badruddin polyclinic at Anakash and Al-Rayan Polyclinic at Sharafia, he said.
