Drugs, weapons seized in Jazan

The Border Patrol in Jazan foiled a number of smuggling operations in the context of its regular security tasks during the first half of March 2014.
Media spokesman of Jazan Border Guard Command Brig. Gen. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Mahfouz said the highlight of these operations includes the seizure of 777 kilos of khat, 133 kilos of hashish, 12 bottles of wine, 107 different kinds of weapons, 145 pistols, 24 sub-machine guns, 50 kilos of fishes, 225 kilos of flour, 220 kilos of barley, 185 kilos of foodstuff, 1,249 heads of cattle, 19,715 pieces of ammunition, 22 mobile devices, 36,973 Saudi currency coins, 9 mobile SIM cards, 6 pieces of stationery, 3,419 kilos of fireworks, 100 kilos of tobacco, and other smuggled items.
Bin Mahfouz said that Border Patrol members are vigilantly safeguarding the borders on all land and seafronts.
“The number of confiscated items clearly proves the huge efforts made by the Border Guard members to maintain the security of the Kingdom,” said bin Mahfouz.
