The first full triathlon of the season saw an excellent attendance of 83 competitors ranging in age from 6 to 71.
The full event featured 450m swim, 12km bike and a 3km run. Many people completed their first triathlon which included a flat but technical bike course.
Last season’s club champion Martin Ball showed he is almost back to form after a one minute overall victory.
An exceptional swim and bike paved the way to a victory over second place Ken Henney whose run time almost gained him his first win.
Martin’s son, Cameron, took first place in the junior and overall fourth with his usual swift swim and run, but also a much improved bike time.
First female yet again went to Rosie Wild with another impressive run in overall fourth place.
Female Vet winner went to Sarah Townhill and first female Master to Anne Morrissey. First male Master went to Eduardo Lando and first female junior to Miriam El Ahmad.
Individual event honors went to: swim Kate Scott, run Mo Foustuk and bike Martin Ball.
Competitors who completed a full triathlon for the first time ever each earned themselves bragging rights as a real triathlete.
Also, there were 31 competitors who did not complete the triathlon but gave a sterling effort to complete their chosen discipline and distance.
The enthusiastic spectators cheered all, each with as much gusto as the last. The club’s next event will be in two weeks time with a biathlon event (swim-run).
Riyadh Triathletes would like to thank the management of Ishbilia for hosting the event and, of course, the main sponsors Airbus Defence and Space, 2XU and Carrefour @5 Le Mall.
