Stepping up its CSR program during Ramadan, McDonald’s mission behind the fundraising is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and wellbeing of orphans in the Kingdom.
Speaking to Arab News on Thursday about the noble program and its fundraising, Waddah Omran, media and communication manager, Riyadh International Catering Corporation (McDonald’s, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), said: “We have produced inspiring and educational stories for kids, as symbolic items to raise funds and it is being sold for SR10 at each of McDonald’s restaurants for guests.”
“We are raising the funds for charities and after the campaign, I expect to have a total of over SR 1 million at the conclusion of this campaign across the Kingdom, which will be donated by McDonald’s to these charities,” he added.
He added: “Ramadan is about many things. Moderation, giving and togetherness are but a few. And we believe that all of them can be achieved with happiness. Therefore, we urge upon the privileged section in the society to join us in spreading the gift of happiness this Ramadan.”
Commenting on Al-Hakawati (story telling program), a part of Saudi culture and tradition, he said McDonald’s storytellers are gifting happiness to guests and children for the third year in a row in the central, eastern and northern regions at famous malls through Ramadan tent.
He informed that this event is for kids and for the first time they have a kid storyteller, Abdul Rahman Omran, who is telling story at Salam Mall in Riyadh.
Significantly, the “world famous” restaurant chain recently ranked fifth among the top 20 brands in the world and the value of it in the annual report issued by the research firm brand Millward Brown rose up to $85.7 billion.
