This is with reference to the news report on ArabNews.com about Myanmar’s Religious Affairs Ministry writing the country’s “true history” without Rohingya. It gives us the final warning that this helpless minority community will be physically wiped out soon.
What I read in The Guardian of Dec. 10 also made me very sad. It ran the story of Noor Ayesha, who held her last surviving daughter tight as their boat crossed into Bangladeshi waters. She left behind a firebombed home, a dead husband, seven slain children and the soldiers who raped her. She said: “Five of my children were burned to death by the soldiers. They killed my two daughters after raping them. They also killed my husband and raped me.”
Since the beginning of October this year, the Rohingyas in northern Rakhine state are facing a terrifying new phase in the genocide: Mass killings, rape and the razing of whole communities, committed with impunity by the Myanmar military and security forces.
What is happening to these helpless Rohingyas is not second to the Srebrenica and Sabra and Shatila massacres. Condemnation alone will not stop this brutal army and the Myanmar government wiping them off the earth. We urge the world community to act fast and rescue the Rohingyas.
