The modern-day concept of school exams and pressuring students to do well in subjects they are not interested in destroys their individuality, and their ability to find their hidden talents and excel at them. It makes students believe that what they are good at and interested in is useless. What does one get by trying so hard to get children talented in something they are not interested in, when they are already talented in something they are interested in?
Not all students are interested in one particular subject. Not everyone’s brain capacity is the same. So why is everyone judged on the same basis? If every student got a question paper that was set only for them, according to their capacity and abilities, nobody would fail. If all kinds of fields had the same scope, all subjects would be equally important and students could choose their interests.
What does one gain by making it this hard for students? Like if a person is good at physics or chemistry then yay, but if he or she is good at poetry, art or singing all they hear is: “Hey! Stop that now and concentrate on your studies.”
I have hope for today’s generation. We need to change the concept of students being forced to be good at something they are not interested in or able to do. The individuality of a student should be shown. We also need to comfort students who do not do well, unlike most teachers today who look disgustedly at those they categorize as weak, and smile at the smart category.
Treat everyone according to their level, and keep the happiness in them forever lit. To teachers today, I hope when you look at our generation changing this concept, you finally realize and understand what you have done.
