This refers to the report “New horrors of Houthi prisons and detention centers revealed” (Jan. 22). It has been confirmed that the Houthis are a terrorist faction bent on tarnishing peace in Yemen and overthrowing the legitimate government. It is a known fact that they are being helped by the rogue state Iran, which wants to disrupt peace and stability in the Middle East by waging war via fascist proxies such as the Houthis and Hezbollah.
The Houthis have killed thousands of innocent Yemeni civilians who are against their illegal activities. They are not even sparing children, recruiting them to fight against the Saudi-led coalition and Yemeni government forces. The Houthis have been abducting innocent civilians and torturing them in jails, many to death, as well as looting financial institutions.
All these acts reveal that they are the No. 1 terrorist group and should be stopped immediately. Coalition forces are doing a fine job to liberate Yemeni soil, but they are hindered by UN pressure not to take a tougher stance. How Houthi barbarism continues to go unpunished, and why the UN is not allowing stricter action against the group, is beyond rational thinking.
The sooner the Houthis are dislodged, the better it will be for Yemen and its neighbors. The UN stifling action against them will embolden them. When the UN can take action against Al-Qaeda and Al-Nusra Front with full force, why are the Houthis being spared? I urge Russia, the US, UK and Germany to join coalition forces to wipe out the Houthis as soon as possible for the sake of global peace.
