JEDDAH: The weather-affected JCA-CIT Saudi Premier League Cup Final will be played on Friday at JCA Ground-1 in Usfan outside of Jeddah.
According to Jeddah Cricket Association Executive Secretary Haroon Abdullah, the final match has been postponed from Feb. 3 to this Friday after a heavy sandstorm on the original match date and the bad weather forecast during the past week. The JCA Executive Committee met in an emergency meeting to study the weather forecast and decided that the final match will be played on Friday.
The final match pits JCA’s favorite teams — the strong and determined My Care Hala Premier and in-form ACE Travel & Tours.
This event is the talk of the town and a large number of cricket enthusiasts are expected to watch this match.
Muhammad Iqbal, CEO of the Jeddah Cricket Association, said all the grounds maintenance work has been done along with seating arrangements for more than 800 spectators. Two separate pavilions for the teams and a separate tent for families adjacent to the octagonal pavilion for the special guests, sponsors and press have been readied, he added.
JCA President Aijaz Ahmed Khan said the grounds Nos. 1 and 2 are both in top shape after the physical preparations — like sprinkling of water, rolling of ground and marking of inner circles and outer boundaries — were completed.
For his part, JCA Vice President and SPL chief coordinator Hamid Rana said that all arrangements have been made for
umpires, scorers, third umpires, commentators, post-match presentation anchors, photographers and entertainment personalities.
