DUBAI: President Donald Trump has made headlines for his sexist comments toward women but now one Syrian artist is putting pictures to words in a powerful new campaign.
Anonymous artist Saint Hoax splits his time between Beirut and New York and has created a picture series titled “Making America Misogynistic Again,” a play on Trump’s campaign slogan “Make America Great Again,” Mic.com reported Thursday.
Saint Hoax superimposed Trump’s comments onto 1950s adverts in a project released on International Women’s Day.
“I removed the original headlines from these misogynistic advertisements and replaced them with quotes that Donald Trump said about women,” the artist says on his website.
“The headlines and visuals strongly complement each other, although there’s almost a 30-year gap between them.”
The artist further told Mic.com: “I’m hoping that these posters would make people realize that Trump’s ‘locker room talk’ is extremely dangerous especially now since he is the president of the United States and he’s ‘supposed’ to be representing one of the most feminist countries in the world.”
