Lorenzo, Jeddah Cable champs in 1st BASO-TFBL Invitational Basketball League

JEDDAH: Lorenzo Team and Jeddah Cable Company emerged champions in their respective divisions in the first BASO-TFBL Invitational Basketball League that ended with a fitting awards ceremony recently at Al-Sorayai court in Industrial City Phase 1 on the outskirts of Jeddah.
The tournament organized by a committee of the Basketball Al-Sorayai Organization and Thursday and Friday Basketball League (BASO-TFBL) was such a big success that a bigger one is set to tentatively start Sept. 1.
BASO-TFBL President Pablo Nesperos Jr. said a general meeting to discuss the BASO-TFBL Second Conference will take place at 7 p.m. Friday at the Al-Sorayai housing compound basketball court.
Nesperos said 40 teams have so far signified interest to participate in the coming tournament. He added there will be five categories to accommodate the growing number of entries.
Lorenzo with Bobby Dagdag as coach, Enzo Plumares manager and Phipe Perez manager won the Mixed Barkadahan Division championship, beating Buddy Team in the final.
Jeddah Cable of Coach Webster Caballo and Manager Jason Estanislao was crowned the Bonafide Inter-company Division champion after it bested Salem Husni team in the best-of-three title series.
The three-month long tournament enjoyed full support from the management of Al-Sorayai Carpet led by General Manager for Marketing Talal Al-Sorayai.
The sponsors are Western Union and Coffee Cut Salon for men through Lowell Plameras, B-Cola Mahmoood Saeed Co., Jhoven Rellores, Jollibee and Pabolooza by Pablo.
With Nesperos in the committee are Dick Cruz, vice president and chair of IROG (Industrial Referees Officials Group), Wynn Geli is secretary, Abril Mabaril technical sports director and Otie Capili commissioner. Jake Domile is the adviser.
The committee members are Victor Barrion, Aberlardo De Guzman, Enrico Capili, Jessyr Paul Sayre, Turla and Joel Jasul.
