RIYADH: The King Salman Youth Center (KSYC) has launched the “#Saudi Passed Here” contest under the “We Give” initiative, which aims to support Saudi male and female students studying abroad.
The initiative, the first of its kind in the Kingdom, seeks to enhance the positive image of the Kingdom and students studying abroad; activate their energies in different countries; motivate them to continue to give and disseminate their experiences and expand its impact.
This is done by monitoring their volunteer experiences and providing a field volunteer platform for all initiators who are interested in volunteering. The competition paves the way to participation in International Volunteer Day on December 5, 2017.
The initiative goes through seven stages. The first phase consists of monitoring the voluntary experiences of students in scholarship countries. The second phase is the “#Saudi Passed Here” contest from October 26 to November 5, 2017, through the link: ksyc.org.sa/wg.
The third phase of the initiative includes the selection of 25 voluntary projects by the jury to join the competition after meeting the conditions and criteria, during the period from November 6-15, 2017.
The fourth stage is concerned with planning, organizing and preparing selected voluntary projects; providing material and logistical support; allocating an orientation team for preparing and planning before implementation; documenting all field projects through short films; and evaluating the projects implemented on International Volunteer Day by a specialized jury during the period from November 16 to December 4, 2017.
In phase five, the 25 volunteer projects will be implemented within one working day in conjunction with International Volunteer Day.
The sixth phase includes evaluation of projects participating in International Volunteer Day through a specialized jury during the period from December 6 to 30, 2017.
In the final stage, the awarding of the winning projects will be announced and the top five projects with the highest assessments will be honored according to the geographical distribution of the continents so that a project will be selected from each continent.
The KSYC has set criteria and conditions for applying for this competition, namely, that the duration of the initiative should not exceed one day, the initiative be implemented in the country of scholarship itself, and the cost of its implementation should not exceed SAR3,000 ($800).
The implementation of the initiative should be done on International Volunteer Day, corresponding to December 5, 2017, and that the initiative should be in the field, and not have a material return.
Winners will be announced in January 2018.
