ISLAMABAD: Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki visited Jati Umra, the ancestral home of the Sharif family, near Lahore on Thursday and offered condolences to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the death of his wife Kulsoom Nawaz.

Kulsoom Nawaz died on Tuesday at the age of 68 while undergoing treatment for lymphoma at the Harley Street Clinic in London.

Pakistan’s three-time premier Nawaz, his daughter Maryam Nawaz, and her husband Capt. Mohammed Safdar — currently serving sentences for corruption — have been temporarily released on parole to attend the funeral on Friday.

The Sharif family will bring Kulsoom’s body to Lahore early on Friday and she will later be buried there.
