Pakistan Army gets first female lieutenant general

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army on Tuesday promoted the first female officer to the rank of a lieutenant general, the military’s media wing announced in a statement.

Nigar Johar, who hails from the Panj Pir area of Swabi district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, will be the first female surgeon general of the army.

Surgeon General of Pakistan Army is the senior-most officer of the army’s medical corps.

Before the promotion, Johar was serving as the commandant of the Military Hospital Rawalpindi.
