ISLAMABAD: President Arif Alvi has said Pakistan enjoys a solid relation with Saudi Arabia which can be further strengthened by arranging high-level bilateral exchanges, Radio Pakistan reported on Friday.
The president issued the statement while talking to Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki and President of the International Islamic University Dr. Hathal bin Hamoud Al-Otaibi during a meeting in Islamabad.
The two countries signed an agreement to establish the Saudi-Pakistan Supreme Coordination Council during Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to the kingdom in May.
Prior to that, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman visited Islamabad in February 2019 and promised to make major investments in Pakistan.
“The President said both brotherly countries have longstanding and deep-rooted fraternal relations which need to be further strengthened for the mutual benefit of the two countries,” Pakistan’s state-owned radio channel reported. “He emphasized the need for bilateral exchanges at high levels that would bring the two countries further closer.”
President Alvi also maintained Pakistan attached tremendous significance to its relations with Saudi Arabia which were grounded in their common faith and mutual respect.
The kingdom is home to over 2.5 million Pakistanis who make the largest contribution to the country’s incoming remittances each year.
