Egypt comes in fourth place among Arab states in the Brand Finance Global Soft Power Index, with a global rank of 31, up by three positions from last year. 

With the period of political unrest that followed 2011, there was a significant decline in Egypt’s soft power. The impact of Egyptian culture in the regional arena declined, and the image of Egyptians was undesirably affected on the international stage.

In the last few years, however, Egypt has once again started to pay attention to the soft power bases already present in culture as a supporting pillar in its domestic and foreign policies.

For instance, it is increasing the proportion of exports of cultural products and increasing the number of cinemas and theaters in the country.
