ISLAMABAD: Pakistani cricketer Fatima Sana received the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) ODI Team of the Year commemorative cap on Saturday, in an acknowledgement of her stellar performance in the 50-over cricket format in 2021.

The 20-year-old all-rounder finished 2021 as the joint-highest wicket-taker with 20 wickets to her name in just 13 matches. She did well as a lower-order batter too, amassing a total of 132 runs at an average of 14.66. The global cricket body listed her for Women’s ODI Team of the Year in January.

“Alhumdullilah! Another dream came true,” Sana said, sharing a picture of the ICC’s commemorative cap on Twitter.  Thank you @ICC for the honour.”

Sana, a regular member of the national women’s team, is a veteran of 25 ODIs and nine T20Is. She has taken 36 ODI wickets and 8 T20I scalps till date.

Her recent four-wicket haul in the second ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Karachi, earlier this month, helped the green shirts register a series victory over their opponents.
