JEDDAH, 30 March — Al-Hilal inflicted a big 4-0 defeat on Al-Ahli to advance in the Crown Prince Cup soccer competition yesterday.
The winners who led 1-0 at the interval, next meet the winners of the Al-Ittihad and Al-Riyadh clash.
Former Brazilian international Rony scored two goals for Al-Hilal. Nawaf Al-Temaiyat made it 3-0 and veteran international Sami Al-Jaber converted a free kick in the injury time to complete the rout of Al-Ahli who currently head the table of the Saudi Football League for the King’s Cup.
In the second match of the competition, Al-Ittifaq downed Al-Ta’ie 2-1 after the teams were tied 1-1 at the breather.
Ittifaq were put ahead by Angola De Silva early in the game but Waleed Shammar got the equlaizer for Al-Tai’e in the 15th minute.
The winning goal for Ittifaq was scored by Shoaib Abdul Fattah 10 minutes into the second half.
Ittifaq will now meet with the winners of the Al-Shabab-Al-Wehda match.
