JEDDAH, 22 May — Saudi Arabia yesterday lambasted Israel’s continuous brutal aggression against the Palestinians and called on the international community to intervene urgently to protect the people of Palestine.
Addressing the weekly Cabinet meeting at Al-Salam Palace here, King Fahd said Israel was using various destructive weapons in its attacks on Palestinian civilians. “They have unleashed tyranny and terrorism on innocent citizens in the occupied Palestinian territories,” the king said.
He urged the world community to activate UN Resolutions 242, 338 and 194, adopting a new executive mechanism, to establish peace and stability in the Middle East region.
King Fahd congratulated Yemeni leadership and people on the anniversary of the country’s unification and wished it more progress and prosperity. He underscored the deep-rooted relations between the two countries. “The participation of Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, in Yemen’s anniversary celebrations reflects the strong Saudi-Yemen ties,” Information Minister Dr. Fuad Al-Farsi quoted the king as saying.
