JEDDAH, 5 June — Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, will leave here today for Damascus on a four-nation tour which will also take him to Germany, Sweden and Morocco, a Royal Court announcement said.
The crown prince’s visits, according to the Saudi Press Agency’s political commentator, aim at strengthening bilateral ties with other countries and mobilizing political support for Arab and Islamic causes, especially for the Palestine and Jerusalem issues. He pointed out that Prince Abdullah’s previous tours were instrumental in bolstering cooperation with countries in the East and the West. They also helped attract foreign investments to the Kingdom’s various sectors.
The commentator referred to the vital economic reforms brought about by the Supreme Economic Council chaired by the crown prince. The SEC recently decided to slash customs tariff from 12 to five percent. (SPA)
