Saudi inventor signs contracts with US Army

RIYADH, 15 January — Saudi inventor Ghalib Al-Hamad, who has 57 inventions to his credit, has signed ten-year contracts with the the US Army for the supply of anti-explosion boxes which he manufactures both in the Kingdom and in the United States. He will also be supplying his products to the Royal Saudi Armed Forces.


Dr. Hamad Al-Baady, secretary-general of the King Abdul Aziz and His Companions Foundation, told Arab News that a total of 43 inventors received certificates of appreciation from Riyadh Governor Prince Salman yesterday.


Among those honored were Dr. Mohsin Al-Tamim (for inventing a surgical tool) and Dr. Muhammad Al-Turaigi for inventing two artificial limbs. Dr. Jaber Mousa Al-Gahtani, who invented an anti-diabetic medicine now being manufactured in the US, was also honored on the occasion. All their products have been patented, he added. -- JH
