Arab leaders meet Prince Salman to offer condolences

JEDDAH, 3 August — Riyadh Governor Prince Salman yesterday received King Abdallah of Jordan, Emir Sheikh Hamad ibn Isa Al-Khalifa of Bahrain and Prince Rasheed ibn Hassan, brother of Morocco’s King Muhammad VI, who came to offer their condolences on the death of Prince Fahd ibn Salman.


The meetings were attended by Prince Ahmad ibn Salman, chairman of the Saudi Research & Marketing Group, Prince Abdul Aziz ibn Salman, undersecretary for petroleum affairs, Prince Abdul Aziz ibn Sattam, Prince Faisal ibn Salman, Prince Sultan ibn Fahd ibn Salman and Prince Ahmad ibn Fahd ibn Salman.


Prince Fahd ibn Salman, the eldest son of the Riyadh governor, died of a heart attack last week at the age of 46. A large number of Arab and Gulf leaders have visited the Kingdom to convey their condolences to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd, Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, Prince Salman and other Royal Family members.


Kuwait’s acting parliament speaker Mubarak Al-Khrainij and parliament member Musallam Al-Barrak have commended Prince Fahd’s great support during the 1990 Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. Al-Barrak said Prince Fahd was dear to the hearts of Kuwaitis “who had found in him a friend and savior at their time of need.”


The Kuwaiti lawmaker pointed out that the people of his country felt the great loss of a brother and partner.


A Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation headed by Al-Khrainij paid condolences to the Saudi royal on Wednesday.
