JEDDAH, 17 August — International Conferences & Exhibitions, a leading exhibition organizer in the Middle East, announced the launch of Dubai World of Sport, a new trade event for the sports and leisure industry from Oct. 7 to 10, 2002, at the Airport Expo Dubai. As the first ever event of its kind to be held in the UAE, the show is expected to attract some of the major national and international names in the sports industry.
“Dubai is the undisputed sports capital of the Middle East, hosting world-class events like the Dubai Desert Classic, the Dubai World Cup and the ATP Tennis tours, aside from attracting many of the biggest names in international sports,” said David Domoney, managing director, of the organizing company. “Dubai is the perfect location for such a business,” he added.
Technology has made significant advances into the sporting arena and there is an ever increasing demand for new products that are hallmarks of excellence and precision.
The event will showcase the most recent equipment and devices from the manufacturers of leading sports goods and accessories from all over the world, enabling retailers in the region to preview the future trends and developments in the Arab world and international sports industry professionals, according to him. “The show will be a trend platform for famous next-generation brands, focusing on quality products,” he added.
It is estimated that the show, will be a gateway to a consumer market of more than 1.4 billion consumers in Middle East, South East Asia and North Africa, worth over $150 billion per annum. Participants will include representatives of the sporting and leisure industry from Australia, the UK, the US, India, New Zealand, Italy, Sspain, Germany, Pakistan, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
While the show is certainly an ideal event for retailers and buyers of professional sports and leisure equipment, it also offers significant partnership opportunities, among others, for local department stores, fitness studios, health clubs, national sports bodies, sporting goods stores, sports clubs and sports councils.
Exhibitors are expected to display products and services in diverse fields like action holidays, bowling, exercise & training apparatus, leisure footwear, golf, trekking, snorkeling, tennis and children’s playground equipment.
“The show is ideally positioned to provide extensive support for the upcoming Asian Games, the world’s second largest multisport event which will be held in Doha, Qatar in 2006.
The show will thus provide an ideal platform to participating organizations and regional countries, for sourcing sports-related equipment, products and services for both training and long-term purposes,” he said.
