RIYADH, 16 November — Sarawat Srikers of Gil Cortez shared the limelight with Schneider Electric of Marvin Arocena and Saudi Oger of Nestor Mauyao as the three teams posted hard-earned 3-1 wins over separate rivals on the 7th week of the Marhaba Phone Card Bowlfest being held at the FAL Bowling Center.

This developed even as the Mavericks of Ben Cariaga ably defended the top position against the challenge of emerging contender McDonald of Toffee San Jose in a hard-fought 2-2 match. The Mavericks and McDonald, now the No. 1 and No. 2 teams respectively, took center stage as McDonald tried in vain to nail down the tough Mavericks.

Meanwhile, early leader Alley Bang Bang of Rolly Manalang, shaken from successive defeats from McDonald and Mavericks, failed to show up and further slipped down to No. 4. This enabled the Tsamba Konnection of John Harris to snatch 3rd place behind McDonald.

Sarawat Strikers, who had the day’s highest pinfalls of 3677 (210 points), banked on Vic Viray’s 803 series as they pounced the Hunks of Rod Basilio in a 3-1 win that lifted Sarawat to No. 6. The Hunks, salvaging 80 points (50+30) from their only win in game 3, managed to retain the No. 5 post.

There was nothing spectacular in Game 1 as Sarawat opened with Viray (193), Gil Cortez (168), Boycie Monis (145), Joel Batolina (140) & Tommy Monsalud (113) and used a 121-70 handicap edge to score their first win with 880-823.

Schneider Electric and Saudi Oger, two teams aiming to invade the top 6, did a good start by taking 210 (150+60) points from 3-1 wins over Unicorn and Al Humaidi Trading respectively to share spotlight with Sarawat.

Still at No. 8 in a field of 12 teams, Schneider showed some promise by scoring 852, 976, 800 & 916, winning 3 games against No. 7 Unicorn’s 812, 973, 838 & 845. Marvin Arocena led Schneiders with his 730 series in 4 games.
