JEDDAH, 23 November — The All Filipino Tennis Players Association (AFTPA) of the Western Region has stringently opened the 14th Year-End Team Tennis Tournament to its success opening day recently at the Al Bilad Hotel which amassed participation of 38 teams fitted with their finest uniforms with muses and mascot carrying their distinctive streamers.
Rod Ramelb I, the acting chairman of the remainder of the year graced the 6-week event until Dec. 14 which he cited in his opening remarks a noteworthy effort made by his colleagues Gerry Nazaire, Serge Taga, Romy Payong, Ding Miranda, Nestor Sorosoro and Gerry Alcantara an endless ebbing advocate in administering this tournament.
Likewise, Ding Miranda, in his closing remarks recognizes the participated players including team managers and foremost family fans and sponsors their enthusiasm in actively participating such events like AFTPA a civic organization.
Simulteneoulsy, AFTPA held its annual election, which corresponded the opening day of this year-end event.
The new 2002 AFTPA officers are Ding Miranda (Chairman), Gerry Nazaire & Serge Taga (Vice Chairmen), Gino Ruperez (Secretary), Gerry Alcantara (Treasurer), Efren Bulatao (Auditor), Corly Ubtinalla & Alfred Felipe (PRO), Romy Bugarin (Business Manager), Nestor Sorosoro (Tournament Director). The acting Chairman Rod Ramelb I, the current Vice Chairman is also elected as an officer for the coming year, whereas, other officers are to be appointed on due course.
