Cayago, Opnel team honored: SkyFreight tilt

RIYADH, 25 January — In the 9th week of the Skyfreight Forwarders "Pabongahan" Inter-Province Bowling League, Vher Cayago, now considered in the region as one of the top rated bowlers displayed his bowling prowess to emerge as the best bowler of the week. The heroics of Cayago powered the Opnel team to clinch the team of the week award at the Riyadh Inter-Continental Hotel Bowling Center.

Cayago fired a towering four game series of 889 and rolled 181, 194, in the first and second games and exploded a game-high of 246 in the third game and downed 204 in the fourth games. The Opnel team which stands for Olongapo, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Laguna and mentored by Larry Mondoy snatched the team of the week award by snatching 24 big points over the Calabarzon of Cesar Caseda. Rolly Amis, now back to his old form followed Cayago’s as next bowler to score a convincing 777 series. Jimmy Medina and Atoy Malubay dazzled to contribute a separate four game series of 754 and 720. Mondoy chipped-in 460 series in three games.

The undermanned Calabarzon team playing with one blind player and were scoreless till the final games submitted an overall total team series of 3045 pinfalls. Joel Alegre led by posting a series of 665 and Ely Baraquiel scored 633 pinfalls in four outings. Jun Arenas carded a series of 532 in four games and Gene Disomimba toppled a series of 435 in two games scoring a game high of 243 in the first game.

The back-to-back team of the week awardee, the Laguna Strikers squad piloted by Rolly Manalang sandbagged the Pampanga Dragons team of Roger Bautista (22-1). Manalang was at his best score and unstoppable to post a remarkable 806 series in four games. Dante "cheeney" Prado shared bowling spotlight with Manalang by sparkling a convincing series of 764 in four outings. Rod Basilio pocketed a series of 547 in three sets while Romy Matic, Joe Concepcion, Jomari de Luna and Marvin Arocena chipped-in separate two game series of 356, 342, 341 and 318. Rey Lansang led in the Pampanga team by submitting a series of 689 in four matches while coming-in next to him was compatriot Boy Catu and Roger Bautista with a separate series of 665 and 654. Danny Albano shared 301 series in two games.

The defending champion and the current league leader, the Pangasinan Strikers team of Joey Maningas haulted the Vision 2 (20-1). Corning the limelight in the Pangasinan was Phol Grepo with a series of 791. Wilson Bacala excelled to score a series of 766 in four games. Turki Al-Essa and Yuli Braganza supported the Pangasinan team by adding a separate series of 705 and 704. Pat Raz and Pep Maghinay collected 358 and 330 series in two games, respectively. For the Vision 2 captained by Alex Bandoy, leading scorers are Remy Pantaleon (692) and Emil Rances (651). Mario Samson snatched a series of 564 in three sets while Edu Quizon scored 476 series. Arman Craig and Nap Torres garnered a series of 297 and 266 in two games.

The ABB Mixed Stars of Mon Teodoro pulverized the Bicol Express (19 – 0) and at the forefront in the ABB Mixed Stars was the promising Mel Solas with a series of 819. Fastrising Keng Raymundo together with Louie Abundo seared the lanes to post a separate four game series of 771 and 711.

Ed "jaya" Sesperes, Ferdie Ramos and Dick Segovia topscored in the Besa Express by registering a separate four game series of 685, 658 and 640. Chris Bautista had 501 pinfalls in three matches and Henry Sonias tallied a series of 361 in two games.

Metro Five Stars of Bashal Al-Faraj and the Luzvimin Pin Busters of Hanibal Geronimo posted a separate 17 and 15 points respectively over the bye-teams. Glenn Espiritu and Jun Ego are on top in the Metro Five Stars with a series of 818 and 719 while Freddie Aquino fired a series of 699. Hanibal Geronimo, Ed Dalisay and Nestor Tercio of the Luzvimin Pin Busters poured a series of 741, 732 and 702 to be at helm. Mel delos Santos and Bher del Rosario nailed down a series of 620 and 603 in four games. The ongoing Inter-Province Bowling League dubbed as "Pabongahan" is sponsored by the SkyFreight Forwarders.
