JEDDAH, 13 March — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd and Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, held talks here yesterday with visiting Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on Middle East peace and ways of strengthening bilateral relations.

“The talks focused on the situation in the Middle East region, especially the massacre of Palestinians by the Israeli occupation forces and the need to establish a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital,” the Saudi Press Agency reported.

In their separate talks, Prince Abdullah and Berlusconi discussed the proposals made by the crown prince to establish peace in the Middle East. The talks were attended by Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation. The Italian premier arrived here earlier yesterday on a two-day visit and was given a grand welcome at Jeddah airport by Prince Abdullah, Prince Sultan and Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed.
