JEDDAH, 18 March — Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, as accepted an invitation from US President George W. Bush to visit Washington, the Saudi Press Agency said yesterday.
The SPA said the invitation was delivered by US Vice President Dick Cheney, who met Prince Abdullah on Saturday to discuss a Saudi peace plan for the Middle East that has been welcomed by Washington.
“The crown prince has accepted the invitation, and the date of the visit will be set later,” the agency added.
In June, Prince Abdullah turned down Bush’s invitation to visit the White House in a show of anger at lack of US action to stop Israeli crimes against unarmed Palestinian civilians.
