RIYADH, 22 March — Gene Disomimba and the Sabbnet bowling team displayed their bowling skills and emerged as the best bowler and the best team of the week on the opening day of the Saudi Telecom Bowling Club Sunday Family Bowling League at the Riyadh Inter-Continental Hotel Bowling Center.
Disomimba, who works at the Philippine Embassy captured the best bowler of the week (formerly bowler of the week) award by exploding a four-game series of 878 pinfalls. Disomimba had 209, 182, 158 and 205 plus 124 handicaps in four games.
The Sabbnet quintet captained by Francis Guron sealed 28 big points against the Barkada team who pocketed 8 points. The devastating forms of Fe Ricalde helped the Sabbnet to score a fine win over Barkada. Ricalde toppled a four-game series of 863. Oca Bernabe was next to Ricalde to submit a convincing 782 series. Guron and Ellen Bernabe sizzled to score a separate three-game series of 576 and 575. Santi Herrera, Egai Asuncion and Cecille Solomon contributed a separate series of 394, 370 and 361 in two games.
Submitting the best scores in the Barkada team is the duo of Nino Fajutagana and Oca Teves who tallied an identical four game series of 754. Ver Bisares and Nitz Cruz registered a series of 746 and 736 while Lito Regalado and Rudy Pranga snached an identical two game series of 354.
The Philippine Embassy team occupied the second top-most position when they humiliated the Philippine National Bank (21-9). Topscoring in the Philippine Embassy was the best bowler of the week, Gene Disomimba with a series of 878. Arlene Arenas and Lino Durante shared limelight with Disomimba by carding a series of 812 and 800. Taps Alawi contributed 648 series and Jolly dela Torre had 198 in one game outing.
For the Philippine National Bank team, ace Vher Cayago led by posting a three-game series of 596. Efren Castro had 511 series in three outings while Jun Evangelista and Jimmy Ocampo snatched 422 and 405 series in two matches. Elmer Penoso and Jene Canlas rolled a series of 395 and 356 in two games and James Frizzle downed 326 points in two sets.
The Inevitable team recorded 19 — 9 win over the RB Lanekings and cornering limelight in the Inevitable was Arnel Garlan with 811 series in four games. The trios of Rodel Huidem, Noel Marquez and Ronnie Cayde came-in next with a series of 764, 759 and 733. Pauline Kambores added a series of 670.
Noli Agliam burned the lanes to topscore in the RB Laneking. Aglian shot a series of 815 while Ted Anis and Ver Cabigting registered a series of 765 and 718. Laura Ringor collected 646 pinfalls in four games and Diony Mabanto and Leo Estacio downed a series of 337 and 313 in two games.
The games between the Controllers and Quadro resulted at 18-16, in favor of the Controllers. Veteran Abe Abulencia was on top in the Controllers by posting a series of 808 in four games. Titlist Arcie Consolacion, Fe Cayde and Rico Feria sizzled to post a separate series of 797, 794 and 779. Susan Sarmiento tallied a series of 497 in three matches. Ed Esmana had 202 points in one game.
The towering Beth Danganan of the Quadro squad stole thunder to post a series of 812. Abdulrahman Jose, Sam Bejar and Rene Estrada knocked-out a series of 797, 787 and 711. Dante Cambare pocketed a series of 607.
The defending champion, the Stinger team piloted by Boy Fogata humbled the Power Grip (16-12). Fogaga led in the Stinger with a series of 748, followed by Ricky Simbulan (746) and Wilson Ringor (741). Rinal Labo submitted a series of 520. Gladys Acosta shone to be on top in the Power Grip with a series of 729. Benny Quebral, Almer Cabangon and Danny Peralta emerged with a separate series of 692, 690 and 689. Bal Marcelino had 638 series.
The grueling match between the PK-Boomerang and the ABB Tribe ended at 15-all. Rolly “pk4” Amis topscored in the PK-Boomerang by garnering a four game series of 842. Alma Lee sparkled 742 series to follow Amis while Larry “pk2” Mondoy registered a series of 691. Arnel Crizaldo and the comebacking Noli Ritual had a separate two game series of 375 and 365. Reden Tulabut “pk1” and Jun Malana “pk5” rolled a series of 342 and 323.
The dynamic tandem of Aurel Farinas and Pat Nave powered the ABB Tribe to submit a convincing four game series of 793 and 751. Rey Pompa rolled a big round to score a series of 586. Joey Morales, Glenn Espiritu, Ace Sulit and Mel Solas downed a series of 358 and 318.
