Muslim scholar dies after long illness

NEW DELHI, 6 April — Prominent Islamic scholar Mujahidul Islam Qasimi, president of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and a widely respected leader of the Indian Muslims, died after battling cancer for four years. Qasimi, 67, met his end at the Apollo Hospital late Thursday where he was admitted 15 days ago. He is survived by his wife.
