Aid to Palestine reaches SR9.78b

RIYADH , 3 May — The total assistance extended to the Palestinians by the Kingdom has reached SR9.78 billion, according to official figures released here yesterday. The total government aid is put at SR7.44 billion, which included SR4.72 billion extended to Palestinian agencies before the 1993 Oslo accords and SR1.12 billion in donations to the Palestinian Authority. The Kingdom also contributed SR201 million to Al-Quds Fund and SR1.37 billion to the Intifada Fund in line with a decision taken at the Cairo Arab summit. The popular assistance, which amounted to SR2.34 billion, included SR1.65 billion extended by the Popular Committee for the Support of the Palestinian Mujahedeen under the supervision of Riyadh Governor Prince Salman, and more than SR682 million collected by the Saudi Committee for Supporting Al-Quds Intifada under Interior Minister Prince Naif. This was in addition to donations in kind.
