RIYADH, 7 May — In a move to train Saudi telecommunications engineers, Lucent Technologies has set up a training center in Riyadh, the first of its kind in the Middle East.
Equipped with the latest technology hardware in data networks, it will be officially inaugurated by Mohammed Jamil Mulla, governor of Saudi Communications Commission, today.
“The Lucent Technologies Training Center has been set up to help Saudi youngsters, Lucent’s customers as well as its own employees engaged in developing the Kingdom’s telecom sector. It will enhance professional skills by providing a range of training programs for Saudis,” Michael Craft, president of Lucent Technologies, told Arab News.
Craft said that LTTC will be the first institute to establish a local skills base. This step is significant keeping in view the fact that Saudi Telecom Company and other regional customers have continued to embrace increasingly advanced approaches to technology. He said telecom companies require specific skills from their employees to support customers. (M. Ghazanfar Ali-Khan)
