DUBAI, 16 June - Several Arab, European, American and Indian scholars participated in a thought-provoking discussion on Islam's message of peace at a function organized by Lajnathul Irfanith Thauheed (LIT) in cooperation with Dubai's Department of Awqaf at the Jordanian Social Club on Thursday evening.
Professor Ahmed Al Khubaisi, Director of Dubai Islamic TV, recited verses from the Holy Qur'an and read excerpts from the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and said that Islam preached peace and harmony among different societies. He praised the LIT for organizing the function and said such efforts promote amity.
Muhammad Iqbal, president of the LIT, said the objective of the function was to highlight Islam's core values as enunciated by the Holy Qur'an and the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). "Such functions focusing on the true values of Islam and the humble life of the noble Prophet (peace be upon him) will be of great benefit to mankind," Iqbal said.
Iqbal further said that the LIT is an association which calls for peace, love, communal harmony in the light of Holy Qur'an and the life of the Prophet. He conveyed the message of the founder of the LIT, Syed Khaleel Awn, that such functions would earn benefits to the mankind through knowing the true values of Islam.
It is also an occasion for showing our devotion and love, our attachment and gratitude to the greatest personality, the greatest benefactor for entire mankind.
Dr. Abdul Rahman Jarrar, director of the technical committee of the Department of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, thanked the LIT founder for advising the association to light up the world with Islam's message of love and peace. "In this age of information and geographical unification of countries, the world requires a strong movement to eradicate animosity practiced in the name of race and creed," Rahman said.
Rahman said that Islam rejected fanaticism and always called for peace. He stressed the importance of spreading the real message of Islam.
