SABYA, 4 September — A Saudi citizen convicted of shooting five relatives to death with a sub-machinegun was executed in the southern Jizan Province yesterday, the Interior Ministry announced.
Hasan ibn Jaber ibn Mufreh Harubi was found guilty of murdering three male and two female relatives over a feud resolved by a court in favor of the victims, the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry identified the victims as Yahya ibn Hasan Harubi, Jaber ibn Salman Harubi, Hasan ibn Salman Harubi, Fatma bint Salman Harubi and Shouqa bint Yahya Harubi.
It said the murderer carried out the crime in a planned manner as he closed the road leading to the house of Yahya and opened fire at Yahya, Jaber and Hasan while they were coming home in a car.
“He also stabbed the three with a knife which he was carrying before going to Yahya’s house to shoot dead Fatma and Shouqa, the wife and daughter of Yahya respectively,” the statement said.
The ministry described the murders as an “ugly” crime, adding that it was tantamount to spreading corruption in society.
