JEDDAH, 25 September — King Abdul Aziz University is hosting a series of short courses in Arabic language for non-Arabic speakers from Saturday. Deanship of Community Service and Continuing Education of the university is organizing them in collaboration with its Arabic Language Department. The courses will be presented in three levels — beginners, intermediate and advanced.
The objective is to introduce Arabic for beginners and improve the language skills of those who have some Arabic background, the organizers said in a press release.
They are designed to improve the basic skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Each course consists of a total of 64 teaching hours spread over the span of one academic semester (16 weeks). A placement exam will be given at the beginning of the course period and the student will be placed in the proper level.
The schedule of courses: Beginners level on Sundays and Wednesdays, intermediate level on Saturdays and Tuesdays and advanced level on Saturdays and Mondays. They all will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aside from the regular lectures, the students will utilize the language laboratory in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities to improve their listening skills.
